1980〜1990年代頃の西陣織と推定される袋帯を額装しました。
金・銀・淡色の糸を巧みに織り合わせ、曲線で区切られたエリアごとに異なる織技法や地紋が施されています。花唐草、流水、抽象的な波文など、古典的な吉祥文様が組み込まれ、花唐草は「繁栄」「子孫繁栄」、流水文は「清らかさ」「繁栄の継続」を象徴し、全体として「山水図」や「四季の移ろい」を思わせる構成となっています。

日本画を思わせる情緒と、物語性のある雅やかな世界観が広がります。

淡い色使いも大変上品で、光の加減によって柔らかな陰影が浮かび上がります。織りの密度も高く、上質な絹糸ならではの艶が際立ちます。左下には古典物語の一場面を思わせる人物の姿が織り込まれています。人物モチーフの帯は制作数が少なく、同年代の西陣織の中でも特に希少性が高いです。

This artwork is framed from a Nishijin-ori fukuro-obi, estimated to have been woven in Kyoto during the 1980s–1990s.
Gold, silver, and softly colored threads are intricately interwoven, with each section divided by flowing curves featuring different weaving techniques and ground patterns.

Classical auspicious motifs such as floral arabesques, flowing water, and abstract wave patterns are incorporated. The floral arabesque symbolizes prosperity and lineage, while the flowing water motif represents purity and continuity of fortune. Together, they evoke the composition of a traditional landscape painting or the changing seasons of Japan.

The piece radiates an elegant world reminiscent of Japanese painting, rich with atmosphere and narrative depth. The delicate, pale hues create a refined impression, while the interplay of light reveals gentle shadows and highlights. The dense weave and the natural luster of high-quality silk further enhance its beauty.

Notably, the lower left features a woven depiction of a figure, suggestive of a scene from a classical tale. Obi featuring human motifs are extremely rare, making this work particularly valuable even among Nishijin textiles of its era.
