”織り”は、いろいろな色糸や金銀糸を使い
文様を織り出す絹織物で、時代や地域によって使う糸や織り方もさまざま。

”染め”は、白生地に絵を描くように文様を描いたり、型を使って染めたりした帯。　

その柄も数多く、日本で慶びの意味を表す吉祥文様や身の回りの植物や動物、自然、またその時代を
映す具象文様、モダンな幾何学文様など、多種多様です。

Obi, with its long history, represents a
captivating and unique cultural journey.

For instance, obi is crafted through two
distinct techniques: weaving and dyeing.
"Weaving" involves the use of various
colored threads, including gold and silver,
to create intricate patterns on silk fabric.
The choice of threads and weaving
methods varies with time and region.

"Dyeing" entails painting patterns on a white
base fabric or using stencils for dyeing.
There are numerous patterns, including
auspicious motifs symbolizing joy in Japan,
depictions of everyday life, nature, and
representational patterns that reflect
different eras,
as well as modern geometric designs.

Our proposal introduces a new way to
appreciate the beauty of Japanese traditional
textile craftsmanship,
showcasing the exquisite designs, color
palettes, and the unparalleled artistry
of Japan as art pieces.
