Kōryū – Radiant Currents ｰ 光流

1960〜80年代の京都・西陣織と推定。金箔と金糸が織りなす豊かな陰影は、光の当たり方とともに表情を変え、壁面に静かなきらめきを生み出します。
大きな円の中に織り出された花文様は、古代から伝わる空想の花「宝相華（ほうそうげ）」
蓮や牡丹、菊などの美しい花々の特徴を融合させた格調高い文様で「繁栄」「吉祥」「高貴さ」を象徴します。円（丸文）は「円満・調和」を意味し、宝相華との組み合わせは幸運と豊かさを重ねて表す吉祥文様です。円を流れるように結ぶ無数の金糸の曲線は、日本の伝統文様「流水文」「霞文」を思わせ、“時の継続”や“清らかさ”を表現しています。

Estimated to be Nishijin-ori from Kyoto, woven in the 1960s–1980s.
The interplay of gold leaf and gold threads creates a rich contrast of light and shadow, shifting in expression with the angle of illumination and bringing a subtle radiance to the wall.

Within the large circular motifs are woven floral patterns of hōsōge, an imaginary flower passed down since ancient times. This elegant design fuses the characteristics of lotus, peony, chrysanthemum, and other blossoms, symbolizing prosperity, auspiciousness, and nobility.
The circle (marumon) itself represents harmony and completeness, and when paired with the hōsōge, it conveys layered meanings of good fortune and abundance.

The countless flowing curves of gold threads that connect the circles evoke traditional Japanese motifs such as ryūsui-mon (flowing water) and kasumi-mon (mist), expressing both the continuity of time and a sense of purity.
