1970〜80年代頃の西陣織の帯と推定されます。
金糸・銀糸をふんだんに用いた重厚な織りと、光の角度によって浮かび上がる繊細な陰影が美しい一枚。深みのある色彩の中に、鳳凰や唐草、菱文、さまざまな草花が幾重にも織り込まれています。
中央に描かれた鳳凰は、古くから平和や繁栄を象徴する吉祥文様。途切れることなく蔓を伸ばす唐草には「繁栄・発展・永続」、連続する菱文には「繁栄・永続」などの願いが込められてきました。
日本の伝統文様を基調としながら、どこか異国の装飾文化を思わせる華やかな意匠が重なり合い、東洋と西洋が交差するような独特の世界をつくり出しています。
重厚さの中に華やかさを併せ持つ、昭和後期の西陣織ならではの豊かな色彩と織りの表情を楽しめる作品です。

This piece is believed to have been made from a Nishijin-ori obi dating from around the 1970s–80s.
Richly woven with gold and silver threads, the obi reveals beautiful depth and delicate shadows that shift with the light. Phoenixes, Karakusa arabesques, geometric Hishi patterns, and an abundance of flowers unfold across its richly layered surface.
The phoenix has long been regarded as an auspicious symbol of peace and prosperity in Japan. The endlessly growing vines of Karakusa represent prosperity, growth, and continuity, while the repeating Hishi pattern also evokes continuity and prosperity.
Rooted in traditional Japanese motifs yet enriched with an exotic sense of ornamentation, the design creates a distinctive world where different decorative traditions seem to meet.
Its rich colors, intricate weaving, and balance of grandeur and elegance reflect the expressive beauty of late-Showa Nishijin textiles.
