1970年代~1980年代頃の西陣織と推測されます。金糸・銀糸をふんだんに織り込んだ「錦織」ならではの厚みと陰影があり、当時の西陣織の高度な技術と美意識を感じられる一枚。
日本とアジア、西洋の装飾文化が重なり合うような豊かな表情のデザイン。重厚さと華やぎが共存する昭和の西陣織らしい色彩が魅力です。
《文様の意味について》
●鳳凰（Phoenix）
平和、繁栄、幸福、徳のある時代にだけ現れる瑞鳥
●唐草
蔓が途切れず伸び続けることから
永遠、子孫繁栄、家運隆盛、発展
●菱文（ひしもん）
魔除け、繁栄、永続性
＊この帯に見られる異国情緒を帯びた菱形の装飾には、ペルシャやインドなどの装飾文化を思わせる意匠が感じられます。
This obi is believed to be a Nishijin-ori textile dating from around the 1970s–1980s.
Richly woven with gold and silver threads, it has the distinctive depth and interplay of light and shadow characteristic of nishiki-ori (brocade weaving). The piece reflects the exceptional craftsmanship and refined aesthetic sensibility of Nishijin weaving from that era.
Its richly layered design evokes an interplay of decorative traditions from Japan, wider Asia, and the West. The distinctive colors of Showa-era Nishijin weaving give the piece a unique presence, combining a sense of grandeur with ornate beauty.
《Meaning of the Motifs》
● Phoenix — Hō-ō
An auspicious mythical bird said to appear only in times of peace and virtuous rule.
Symbolism: peace, prosperity, happiness
● Arabesque Vines — Karakusa
The endlessly extending vines symbolize life and prosperity continuing without end.
Symbolism: eternity, prosperity of future generations, flourishing family fortunes, growth
● Diamond Motif — Hishimon
A geometric motif whose roots can be traced through decorative traditions associated with Persian carpets and Indian chintz before reaching Japan. It became a popular element in obi designs from the Edo through the Showa period.
Symbolism: protection from evil, prosperity, continuity
