1970〜1990年頃の染め帯と推定される帯を使用しています。
柔らかな正絹の帯地に描かれているのは、古来より福を招く存在とされてきた「稚児（ちご）」たちの、無邪気で愛らしい遊びの情景です。
稚児とは、日本の神事や仏事、祝いの場などに登場する装束姿の子どもを指し、無垢や純真、健やかな成長の象徴とされています。
扇や弓矢、的などの縁起の良いモチーフとともに遊ぶ姿が描かれており、それぞれに魔除けや目標達成といった願いが込められています。また、背景の鮮やかな朱赤は、古くから魔除けや子どもの健やかな成長を願う色として親しまれてきました。
手描きによるものと思われる染め帯を使用した、貴重な一点です。
This artwork is created from a vintage dyed obi believed to date from the 1970s–1990s.
Depicted on the soft silk fabric are playful scenes of Chigo—ceremonially dressed children who have long been regarded in Japan as symbols of good fortune and blessing.
Traditionally appearing in Shinto rituals, Buddhist ceremonies, and celebratory events, Chigo represent innocence, purity, and healthy growth. The children are shown playing with auspicious motifs such as folding fans, bows and arrows, and targets, each carrying symbolic wishes for protection, success, and the fulfillment of one's goals.
The vivid vermilion-red background is also significant. In Japan, this color has long been associated with protection from evil and prayers for children's well-being.
This is a rare piece created from what is believed to be a hand-painted dyed obi, preserving both the artistry and cultural symbolism of traditional Japanese textile design.
