1980〜1990年代頃に制作された西陣織の袋帯と推定されます。
秋の七草のひとつ、桔梗（ききょう）をモチーフとした文様で、つぼみと開花した花が織り出されています。漆黒の地に金糸・銀糸が映え、光を受けて華やかに輝きます。照明を当てることで、より立体感と深みが際立つ一枚です。

桔梗文様は平安時代から和歌や絵画の題材として親しまれ、「吉更＝さらに吉」の語に由来される吉祥文様でもあります。戦国時代には勝利のお守りや家紋として武家にも愛され、明智光秀や坂本龍馬の家紋としても知られています。
花言葉は「永遠の愛」「清楚」「気品」。凛とした美しさと高貴さを感じさせる、存在感のある作品です。

This piece is estimated to have been woven in the 1980s–1990s as a Nishijin-ori fukuro obi (formal sash).
The design features kikyo (bellflowers), one of Japan’s seven flowers of autumn, with both buds and blossoms beautifully depicted.
Gold and silver threads shimmer against a deep black background, creating a radiant contrast.
Under lighting, the woven textures reveal even greater depth and dimension.

The kikyo motif has been cherished since the Heian period as an auspicious design, derived from the phrase kikkō meaning “further good fortune.”
It was also beloved among samurai as a talisman for victory and used as a family crest — notably by Akechi Mitsuhide and Sakamoto Ryoma.
In the language of flowers, kikyo represents eternal love, purity, and elegance.
With its dignified beauty and noble presence, this work embodies the timeless grace of Japanese artistry.
